3CIV (3 College InterVarsity) is an on-campus Christian community of students at Scripps, Mudd, and CMC. Together we help each other grow deeper in faith or consider faith for the first time through worship, Bible study, prayer, retreats, and service. Anyone is welcome; come visit anytime!
5C Invisible Children | E-Mail
5C Invisible Children is a collaborative project designed to unite the students of the Claremont Colleges around global issues, specifically the atrocities enacted by Joseph Kony and The Lord’s Resistance Army throughout Central Africa. Our goal is to make information about these issues more accessible as well as to raise funds to assist in relief and rebuilding efforts of Keyo Secondary School in Northern Uganda. Throughout the semester we host snack nights in the dorms as fundraisers in our quest to raise awareness and foster change. We partner with Invisible Children, which is both a non-profit organization and an international movement, to end the civil war in Uganda that has been going on for over twenty-five years. Through our participation in the Schools for Schools program we are able to assist our sister school, Keyo Secondary School, in rebuilding the school, providing quality education materials, training teachers, and developing mentoring programs. We are always looking for new members and fresh ideas to spread awareness. Together we can be a piece of the peace.

Under the direction of the Dean of Students Office, the Activities Team offers a wide range of services and activities for the student body. The services and events include on and off-campus events in support of the Scripps community and outside community service. Dedicated and enthusiastic students who desire to strengthen leadership and organizational skills are strongly encouraged to apply.
Asian American Sponsor Program | E-Mail
The Asian American Sponsor Program (AASP) is a student-run organization that seeks to provide social, emotional, and academic support to all incoming AAPI (Asian American/Pacific Islander) students. We pair new students with self-identified AAPI upperclasswomen who serve as mentors and friends, and act as resources to help address issues of AAPI identity, health, and other matters that may arise during one’s first year at Scripps. AASP puts on a variety of programs and events throughout the year in order to build a strong AAPI community at Scripps, including bimonthly study breaks, bowling, food outings, scavenger hunts, and activities with similar programs at the other Claremont Colleges.
Asian American Student Union | E-Mail
The Asian American Student Union seeks to strengthen the Asian American communities on campus and other Claremont Colleges by providing a safe space for our members to explore issues of race, class, gender, sexuality, and nationality. Our internal programming encourages our members to develop closer relationships with each other and offer the unique opportunity to learn from their peers. We work in coalition with Asian American organizations on the other campuses on social and political programs to build a wider, more inclusive Asian American community. We also work in partnership with the Intercollegiate Department of Asian American Studies to better fit the Asian American Studies curriculum to student needs. We hope to love, encourage, support, and politicize our membership.
Babes and Blankets | E-Mail
Students come together to knit and crochet blankets, hats, and other items. Completed items are donated to organizations such as Binky Patrol and Project Linus, which donate baby blankets to hospitals in our area. All Scripps students are welcome and we will teach you to knit and crochet if you do not know how!

We seek to provide a forum for the discussion of social, political and economic issues that affect women, particularly those of Latina descent. We intend to raise awareness of diversity and its implications in our immediate community and surrounding areas. We dedicate ourselves to social justice by developing a critical lens through which we can analyze ourselves and the world. We welcome all members of the Scripps community regardless of racial and cultural heritage to join us in this pursuit.
Chicano/Latino Student Affairs Center (CLSA)
The Chicano/Latino Student Affairs Center is staffed by three full-time professionals who work with students, staff, faculty, and administration to advance the Chicano(a)/Latino(a) community. CLSA is a five-college department of the Claremont University Consortium (CUC).
Claremont Colleges Swing (5C) | E-Mail
The Claremont Colleges Swing club is a place to learn how to swing dance, practice your dance moves, and explore Southern California’s swing dancing scene. CC Swing holds weekly social dance parties, including free lessons at which you can learn how to lindy hop and west coast swing dance. Additionally, we also host Swing Jam, a large swing party with a live band, each semester. So come out and swing!

Crepes for a Cause | E-Mail
Crepes for a Cause is committed to educating the Scripps community about significant issues and introducing them to various organizations every month, during a weekly snack night fundraiser. The function of Crepes for a Cause is to provide Scripps students with a delicious snack one night out of the 6 snack-less Scripps nights as well as educate them and raise awareness about organizations such as MedLife and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The crepe sale revenue will then be allocated to the chosen organization, depending on the month. Anyone who is interested in helping out with the CLORG, is welcome to do so. Bi-weekly logistic meetings are held in addition to the weekly fundraising Crepe snack nights.

As the Queer/Straight Alliance at Scripps College, Family provides a safe space for Scripps students of all genders and sexual orientations to come together and discuss, celebrate, support, and share issues and experiences of intersectionality and identity. All Scripps students are welcome to attend Family events, which include study breaks, movie nights, speakers, outings, political actions, and weekly meetings. Family works with the Queer Resource Center, a 6C organization, QQAMP, the Queer, Questioning and Allied Mentor Program, and other queer and allied organizations on campus.
Fine Cheese Club, The | E-Mail
The Fine Cheese Club enables cheese-loving Scripps students to gather biweekly for the purpose of enjoying and educating themselves about the most delicious of dairy products. Meetings are Saturday or Sunday at brunch, and feature a variety of cheeses and pairings. Excursions to cheese shops and or cooking schools are planned for members who want to hear a professional’s take on cheese.

Get Your Nerd On is aimed at science-fiction/fantasy fans but is open to all. We have weekly screenings of TV shows such as Star Trek, Firefly, and Dr. Who, and monthly events that are decided upon by members. The monthly events range from movie nights, video game nights, or just hanging out. We are also trying to attend some conventions in the LA area. If you are a nerd, or want to become a nerd, check us out!

La Semeuse is the Scripps College yearbook. Our aim is to preserve our experience here through student contribution and ideas. We are always in need of new ideas, new art, new vision, photography, illustration, poetry, prose, etc. Anything that you feel represents you or Scripps or your time here deserves to be remembered, and La Semeuse is a blank space in Scripps history on which you can make your mark. Every woman changes the Scripps community in a unique way, and it is important to the La Semeuse staff that these women are recognized. You can be as involved in the yearbook as you like, and any and every contribution is appreciated.

MEDLIFE is a national student-run organization whose mission is to help families achieve greater freedom from the constraints of poverty, empowering them to live healthier lives. MEDLIFE organizes medical brigades to rural areas in Ecuador and Peru. During Spring Break 2010, 11 students from the Claremont Colleges went to Lima, Peru to participate in a medical brigade. Members of MEDLIFE believe that access to quality healthcare is a basic human right. MEDLIFE was originally founded by a Dartmouth University medical student in 2005, and there are currently student chapters at over 20 colleges and universities around the country. Anyone interested in medicine, public health, travel, Spanish, or social justice is encouraged to join!

The Motley Coffeehouse is a non-profit, non-partisan organization collectively run by students of Scripps College since 1974. In our business practices we seek to provide quality coffee beverages and food, using products that come from sustainable and socially responsible sources whenever possible. As an organization of students, we are committed to offering our resources and space to positively impact our community. The Motley is a safe alternative space which is open and welcoming to all, regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation, class or age. The central goal of the New Student Program is to welcome new students to Scripps and support these new students in their transition from high school or another college to Scripps College. Throughout the fall and the spring the New Student Program plans events for New Students both on campus as well as in the surrounding Los Angeles Area. In addition, the New Student Program trains and matches Peer Mentors to incoming new students, so that new students can have a resource and a friendly face on campus. Outdoor Women Leadership | E-Mail
Outdoor Women Leadership is the outdoor club which gets 5C women into the wilderness! OWL leads several trips a semester to areas around southern California and helps students plan and fund their own trips open to women of the colleges. OWL is unique in being women only in order to help women develop leadership in the outdoors as well as meet some women with similar interests. In addition to trips, OWL rents outdoor gear to students.

We subsidize the cost of each birthday treat by selling baked goods to students and faculty within the Claremont Consortium who wish to support our cause.

Scripps Art Society is a community of Scripps students, governed by three Scripps women, devoted to the support and exploration of the visual and performing arts. Scripps Associated Students (SAS) is the student governing body of Scripps College. The function of SAS is to liaise between the student body and the administration, faculty, and the Board of Trustees of Scripps College. SAS plans a variety of programs and activities, funds clubs and organizations, and serves as an advocate for student needs and concerns in an effort to improve student life on campus. The Marine Biology Club works to raise awareness about ocean conservation both on the campus and individually. The club welcomes students with any level of interest about the ocean, and offers a chance to explore and learn more about the ocean and its conservation. Scripps Mock Trial is a competitive team in which members portray lawyers and witnesses in national tournaments, and learn or improve public speaking, logical reasoning, and acting skills. Students gain a better understanding of the legal system all within a supportive team environment. No previous experience required!

Scripps Live Arts organizes free live performances and concerts on Scripps’ campus. We aim to provide Scripps students with free and fun musical and artistic events that feature creative, talented, and diverse musicians and artists. We also serve to teach our members the ins and outs of concert and event planning, including but not limited to booking bands, securing funding, setting up and monitoring sound equipment, and publicizing the event.

As a chapter of the Quest Scholars Network, the mission of the Scripps QB Scholars is to strengthen ties within Scripps Quest Scholars and create an information network. Specifically, our mission is to (1) uphold the Quest ideals of scholarship, leadership, and service, (2) provide mentoring and support to current and future scholars (3) foster unity among members by sponsoring social activities and team-building events, (4) strive to enhance the academic and social experiences of Scripps QB scholars and (5) create further awareness and understanding of the Quest Bridge journey. Begun with a large grant from an alumna, SIF is a Scripps Organization composed of students interested in financial markets and investing. The primary purpose of this organization is to provide students with a learning experience of the free enterprise system and investing. We currently manage a portfolio of approximately ten companies.

Summation is the math club at Scripps College. We intend to build community among Scripps math students. We host social events, such as a “Pi Day” in the spring and various other events throughout the year to strengthen the relationships between Scripps math students. We also provide Scripps students with resources to help them succeed in mathematics.

Wanawake Weusi is a Scripps club that supports the social-economic, social-political and spiritual well-being of women of color. The club aims to empower women of color in leadership positions, to educate women at Scripps and the five colleges about issues concerning women of color, to be an active voice for women of color at Scripps, and to participate actively in issues concerning women and women’s rights. [In]Visible Magazine is a student-run Scripps magazine devoted to addressing the issues of body image on campus while promoting appreciation of inner beauty. We look to question stereotypes, redefine society’s standards of beauty, broaden our perspectives, and, above all, highlight the unique qualities of the individual that are beyond the physical. We publish a magazine once a semester, and are always looking for more writers, copy editors, designers, and art staff.
