Mark your calendars for this unique opportunity to refine your skills and develop your career narrative in a high touch, small group context. Each participant will be matched with a mentor for consultation and coaching.

The 2017 EPP application will open Friday September 30, 2016 and is due by  Friday October 21 11:59pm.  Review eligibility requirements here and prep your materials now!

Sunday January 8: Welcome
Participants will check in and attend an opening session with CP&R.

Monday January 9: Self Assessment
Knowing yourself is the first step to clarifying where you’d thrive. Discover how your unique strengths, temperament, preferences, and leadership style impact not only what you want to do but how you engage in the career development process. Participants will receive free Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), and StrengthsFinder assessments and identify their personal leadership style.

Tuesday January 10: Career Assessment
CP&R is committed to helping students chart their own unique path to post-graduate success. We believe this is different for each individual. During Day 2 your guides will provide tools to help you uncover your interests, pay attention to themes and skills that have already emerged through your life, and assist you in crafting your career narrative.
Participants will receive free Strong Interest Inventory, MyCareerStory, and Values exploration assessments and participate in a formal networking luncheon with a select group of employers.

Wednesday January 11: Personal Branding
Once you know where you stand (Day 1 – Self Assessment) and have (some) ideas about the direction you (might) want to head (Day 2 – Career Assessment), start getting there.  In Day 3, we’ll focus on how to articulate your goals, identify your network, and what it means to develop your personal brand. You’ll get personalized coaching and practice with your elevator pitch, create a LinkedIn profile you can be proud of, and learn what it means to do industry and organizational research.
Participants will create a LinkedIn Profile, learn how to leverage the Scripps Network through a panel of recent graduates, and receive personalized coaching on their elevator pitch.

Thursday January 12: Practice with Professionals
On Day 4 you’ll put your new knowledge to the test in an accelerated job application lab and enjoy a networking luncheon with professionals who regularly hire interns and employees. You’ll engage in speed interviewing and gain real time feedback on common interview questions, learn how to benchmark your personal finance needs, and how (and why you need to) negotiate your salary. We’ll walk you through the process from beginning to end, so you’ll know what to expect when you’re conducting your own job search.
Participants will participate in individual and group mock interviews, practice with and get feedback from professionals who make hiring decisions and gain experience networking.

Friday January 13: Creating Your Professional Presence
Landing your hypothetical dream job is just the beginning. On Day 5 you’ll learn what it means to develop your professional presence and continue your personal growth. Learn from a panel of professionals how to navigate office politics, track personal accomplishments, and articulate your personal value-add.
Participants will present their personal brand to a small group of prestigious employers and continue writing their career narrative in focused roundtable conversations.
