We will be distributing a small amount of issues around Scripps at the end of this fall semester, but will be distributing the majority of our magazine 5C wide at the beginning of the spring semester. We hope this will make our magazine more accessible to our readers, while still allowing for the usual careful construction of one issue each semester.

This past fall semester, we have also revamped the layout of the magazine somewhat. We have continued with past leaders’ implementation of distinct sections in the magazine, but we added a twist to it: new names! We now have sections that we hope will provide more reader interest and clarity. The sections—some completely new, some new titles, some unchanged—include Around Campus, Beyond the Claremont Bubble, Health, and Sex & Sexuality. We hope our new Sex & Sexuality section will spark dialogue across campus as we push the boundaries of conventional magazine discourse. We want to challenge your comfort level, while also encouraging an appreciation of who you are in every aspect, even as a sexual being.

In addition, we successfully created a “letters to the editors” section—providing you with responses your peers had on our previous issues. We hope it will grow into an energetic section that prompts reader engagement, and gives us more student perspectives.

As indication of [in]Visible becoming more well known, PBS reached out to our organization. We have had the privilege of partnering with PBS in support of their new televised program Women, War, and Peace, which aired October 11th through November 8th. In joining forces to empower women and grant voices to the invisible, we were able to hold a public viewing of the episode Peace Unveiled at the Motley this fall semester for our community outreach event.

We want to continue to influence our community and want to hear your opinion! Please contact us with any likes or dislikes regarding this issue at invisiblemag@gmail.com, and include “Letter to Editor” in the subject line. We will need all submissions by the end of March 2012 for them to be considered for publication.

We look forward to more reader engagement and adding to the complexity of our magazine’s discourse,

Victoria Davis

Editor-in-Chief

Dear readers, As we have successfully published our seventh issue, I must say it has been an adventure to watch [in]Visible grow in its influence here at Scripps and become more widely known across the 5Cs.
