I Can’t Help but Observe the Roaming Gnats by Blake Lapin

Colliding above the William Carlos Williams book in my hand,
Spring and All.
Those flying friends are above the sun & skin mix,
the meandering wind,
a meadow of paved grass.

Today, like every day, you remain a plum, weeks from turning.
I wonder where your ashes coalesce with the soil
and how you know this ripe brightness.
