Night
glowing city street
flooded with a stream of
red blue green yellow
glistening off puddles
staining black asphalt
black leather jacket
leans on brick wall
creamy folds of shiny dark
obscure frail wrists and sloping neck
leading to head of waves
she’s standing all alone
as faces blur by
flutter of scarves
and clamor of boots
gloved hands hold gloved hands
she braves the cold
rolls up sleeves
and crimson nails wipe
black dust from under
stoic eyes
she feeds off isolation
once thought happiness
totaled a heated touch
until a realization
humanized her
loneliness is key
she thinks
loneliness is key
she knows
loneliness is key
she breathes
in the night
she’s a gleam of black diamonds
alone in the hustle
the collision of lights and noise
untouchable
