Editor’s Letter: Spring 2012
Dear Readers,
Another academic year is coming to a close, which means [in]Visible’s next issue is finally complete!
The [in]Visible leadership board—Nikki Broderick, Amy Borsuk, Allyson Healey, Elena Sharma, Emily Hanna—and I are excited to welcome and introduce our new leadership for the 2012-13 year: Taryn Riera, Editor-in-chief; Lexy Stewart, Managing Editor and Writing Director; Sarah Chung, Art Director; Daysha Edewi, Design Director; Karin Denton, Design Editor; Rebecca Dutta, Lead Copy Editor; and Nikhila Janikiram, Public Relations Manager. Congratulations to each of you!
The past spring semester, we have successfully added a new department to our magazine: Public Relations. This department, although early in development, launched a student perspectives blog that focuses on body image issues as well as other [in]Visible related topics and personal reflections. We encourage readers who wish to write a blog post—any topic, any style, anytime—are encouraged to share their work. If you are inspired to create, we want to see it and share it. I hope with the future of this department [in]Visible will continue to make an impact on campus and connect with our readers in multidimensional forms.
If you missed it, [in]Visible sponsored another community outreach event in partnership with the Tiernan Field House. Our karaoke-themed event encouraged Scripps students to go beyond their comfort zones and sing in front of an audience. We all had a blast, while also furthering our mission to promote self-confidence. Here, it wasn’t about judging who had talent or not—it was about owning who you are and having fun regardless of who’s watching.
As always, want to hear your opinion! So send an email to [email protected] and let us hear what you thought of this semester’s issue. We will need all submissions by the end of October 2012 for them to be considered for publication.
Sincerely,
Victoria Davis
Editor-in-Chief
