Editor’s Letter: Fall 2012

Dear Readers,

With another semester behind us, I am proud to present this Fall’s issue of [in]Visible Magazine. None of this would be possible without our amazing leadership team: Lexy Stewart ’15, Rebecca Dutta ’15, Daysha Edewi ’14, and Karin Denton PO ’15, as well as all of our writers, artists, copy editors, and designers.

In perhaps the biggest development since our formation, [in]Visible has officially become a 5C organization. This allowed us to have a table at Pitzer’s Turf Dinner and recruit non-Scripps students. We hope to greatly expand our presence on the 5Cs in the next few years, reaching more and more students outside of Scripps. As a part of this expansion, we will continue to distribute magazines around the 5Cs and expand our content.

Besides CLORG Tea and Turf Dinner, you may have seen us around campus this semester. On Halloweekend we hosted a mini-pumpkin decorating and movie screening event. We have also continued our student blog to foster conversation on campus in-between publishing, which can be found on our website. Any student can contribute; just email us at [email protected]. In another effort to foster conversation, we are hoping to utilize the Pomona College Museum of Art’s new free speech exhibit for article discussions. We are very excited about the potential use of this space and its ability to bring our writers and readers in direct conversation with each other.

As final note to readers, you can email in responses to the magazine for publication in our next semester’s issue. We want to know what you think! Contact us with any likes, dislikes, critiques, or comments regarding this issue at [email protected], and please include “Letter to Editor” in the subject line. We will need all submissions by the end of March 2013 for them to be considered for publication.

Good luck with finals and have a fantastic break,

Taryn Riera
