Why I’m Proud to Go to Scripps College: Responding to Stereotypes Associated with Women’s Colleges

Gretchen Allen is an art conservation major and studio art minor in her junior year at Scripps. These three pieces are part of an ongoing series of portraits that are meant to show all aspects of the vibrant and diverse Scripps community. The series is a response to the oft-repeated stereotypes associated with women’s colleges, and was originally inspired by the debate surrounding the CMC Forum article, “Don’t like the Gender Gap? Don’t encourage it”. The object of the series is to show the amazing accomplishments, talents, and interests of Scripps women, showing how many different people can create such a great community together.
