With only a few days until Finals Week, here’s a handy tip about a useful Sakai feature. The Tests & Quizzes functionality is generally underused by faculty members even though it is a useful way of controlling the test-taking environment. Timed exams are one way to control the accessibility and functionality of online test-taking and as we race to Finals Week, it is only fitting to provide you with this tip.
- Open Sakai
- Click Tests & Quizzes (found on the left-hand side Menu).
- Name your ‘Assessment’ then choose ‘Assessment Type’; set this to ‘Timed’
- Click Settings
- Based on your preferences, set the start and end times of the assessment
Note: this can also work for essay-prompts, file downloads, etc. Therefore, students can have access to specific information that you provide.
There are so many more functions and ways to personalize (and even create test types on Sakai!) and we encourage you to explore these next semester as well!
